Having read the Bristol Independant the other day I thought I would share with you the latest player news as the club seem incapable of telling us anything AGAIN!!!
Basically in the Conference and Southern column it said Mogg is hoping to persuade the ex Bristol City player Matt Hewlett to relaunch his career providing he can prove his fitness. Which if fit could be a good signing???
But the other stuff written is quite worrying, Mogg has confirmed Scott Brice has left the club no mention of where or if we expect to get a fee at all like we were lead to believe because of his age??? He has signed Toby Colbourne see my last post on this lad. Mark Reynolds and Tom Warren of Bitton have indicated they wish to move up, Not exactly concrete then them two!!! While former Mangos player Mitch Tippins ex-Taunton player Scott Thomas, Larkhall Athletic's Lee Collier and former Bishop Sutton player Rob Dunphy will be at pre season training.
So we have signed a forward that Frome didn't want let our best player of last season Scott Brice go and got a bunch of players from lower leagues to come training!!!
I am not surprised in the slightest as Mogg prove last season that he didn't have the best of contacts in the transfer market and I think the difference between us and and our friends down the road is shocking. They have signed four quality proven players at Southern Prem standard in Courty, Scott, Paul and Knighton while we have signed one player who Frome didn't want!!!
So what is the ambitions of the club next season who knows??? Who cares??? As per normal no information coming out of the club and it is very silent from Wacko and his merry men??? Apart from he said to Yatesman a few weeks back "it will be alright on the night". Hardly inspiring and what night would that be then Wacko???
A few weeks back we were lead to believe that maybe Grantley Dicks was coming in as assistant, Still nothing confirmed??? Very interesting though as I have it on good authority that Mogg wanted to bring him last season and Wacko said no because he wasn't right for the club!!! So why would he be right now then??? After all Mogg needed help last season as he was clearly out of his depth.
I think the club is in for a very long hard season unless something drastic happens which lets face it we are not known for it seems Wacko is happy to see the squad Tommo put together slowly all move away from the club and replace them with players from a lower level and that to me sums it up I don't think he will be happy until we are back in the Hellenic League.
I have no doubt that had Tommo still been in charge we would have retained most of the squad and probably added to it players from say a team like Team Bath who are no longer and had a good go at promotion if we were relegated at all!!!
Good luck and all the best to Deano and Scott who are moving on and who can blame them as it is probably on a matter of time before a few more leave!!!
I'll see you on the far post
Not a chance
