Match v Evesham

Postby London Calling on Sat Feb 28, 2009 8:05 pm

Surprised that we opted for the "pick your position out of a hat" method of team selection today.
I can't think of any other reason there were so many players playing in positions that were clearly unfamiliar to them. I hope we won't be seeing Alex Stanley as an attacking option again!
There seemed to be no leadership on the pitch or from the dugout today. No one encouraged anyone else or tried to change anything.
I think we could have got something out of the game as Evesham were really no better.
Last random thought, why do our ex players always score against us?

I really can't work out the method in the madness of yesterday's team selection.

Woody (left winger) with Reid up front. Joe White ( striker ) in central midfield. Vahid ( R back) in midfield with Stanley (L back). Gibb (R Winger) at R Back. Metitri ( Centre Back ) at Left Back..........or something like that, I couldn't quite work it out as Woody kept dropping back into midfield and Metitri kept drifting back into his centre back position.

All in all very confusing and as a result, even after we brought on Deano and Blakemore, we didn't have a single shot on target, and barely got one away that was off target. I'll repeat that for effect....NOT A SINGLE SHOT ON TARGET and this against an Evesham side that was very beatable. Definitely an important 3 points lost.

Moggy's last game in charge, perhaps ?

He didn't give the impression that he was in charge yesterday.
He just stood motionless and silent on the touchline and after that awful first half the tactical changes amounted to precisely nothing.
Surprised to see Richard Thompson watching the game. Credit to him. Somehow can't imagine Scolari went to watch Chelsea v Wigan yesterday!

What a farce.

Evesham were there for the taking yesterday, they were no better than us, but they did have players playing in positions they were comfortable in.

I bet Thommo wasn't thinking if only I'd moved Alex to the wing, put Beadle on the other wing and have Jo and Meths in the middle with Woody and Jake up front. After seeing him manage for six months, I expect he was probably embarassed to see players he had brought in being asked to do things they obviously were not suited to do.

I think the players gave their all, but its difficult to see what direction and encouragement they are receiving.

Thats four games now, we have 1 point, 2 goals for and 10 goals against. 3 sendings off and now second from bottom.

I shall be there on Tuesday though.
Come on Yate please ...
