Players for next season

Postby London Calling on Wed May 13, 2009 10:36 pm

Does anyone have any news about which players have signed for next season or failing that who would you like to see either sign on again or join from somewhere else?

Don't be so daft London Calling......
When did you last manage to get blood out of a stone? Don't forget we are talking about the secret society here.
As for new players and my guess is we will need plenty of them, I think its all about the contacts that Moggy has in the local football scene. Unfortunately I doubt he holds a candle to Thommo in that respect. Also I wonder who his assistant will be?.... if the budget allows him to have one.

We should try to keep a few of our players from last season. Griffiths, Brice etc. But there were a lot that could disappear with little effect on the team.

I'd like to see Anyinsah and Hawkins back as I reckon we missed them all season. If we could add a couple of dominant centre halfs we might start to take control of matches, something we only did once or twice all season. Woody should be kept, but only if we can get him fit and producing his best form.

We need a better season from Kes Metitri and Edd Vahid, if they stay, both disappointed last season, as did Robins. A new partner for Brice at Centre Back would be worth considering.

Up front Griffiths did OK but less than 20 goals in a season is hardly setting the world alight, but at least he seemed to control his negative impulses toward the end of the season. Reid came good in the last few matches, shame he was let down by the rest of the side, but still not sure if he does enough, or is ruthless enough in front of goal.
Blakemore thinks he's a better striker than he is and needs to stop listening to his own bullsh*t about how great he is and knuckle down and Whitts is under used in his best role tucked in behind the front two.

Beadle is often a bit feeble at times and doesn't have that hard edge that's needed. If we go with a squad of 21 ( which I doubt) then we should keep him on.

Duggan is a keeper (not a goalie) as is the young left winger that played away at Clevedon ( simmons I think), and will both be useful SQUAD members, as will Jack Smyth.

Apparantly we are talking to players at Taunton Town at the moment, so looks like things are happening

I've heard on the grapevine that two Clevedon players are set to sign and Moggy has appointed an assistant, but I've forgotten the name ......somebody Dicks I think.

Please let it be "Julian Dicks" - a true legend. At the very least he'll put some fight in the players !

My guess would be Grantley Dicks. It certainly feels like the start of a new era at Lodge Road and we are starting to get some positive news at last.

Just to chear you all up,a reliable source told me we'd be welcoming a couple from Bitton's title winning team, namely the centre back Tom Warren, and their leading goalscorer Reynolds.
