Yate Town 2-1 Mangos

Well done Yate.

Fantastic and much needed result. Proof that there are still plenty of points for us in this league.

Great 1st half performance. Not so great 2nd half.

Deano was man of the match but a mention in dispatches should also go to Chenny and also Scott Brice for a commanding 2nd half display.

Well done to Thommo too for bringing on Jeffs at the right time too to guarantee the points.

Let's do it again on Thursday lads. We'll be there to support you!

We certainly needed that result yesterday. Both sides looked very short on confidence and it's a good job Mangotsfield seemed incapable of getting a shot anywhere near the goal.
I thought Jason Wood made a big difference out on the left and we certainly struggled after he went off.
Anyone know why no sign of Aaron Blakemore in team or on bench?

Having spoke to Thommo today I can confirm that Aaron has been placed on the transfer list and will probably not play for us again.

I know this has caused Thommo a great deal of anguish as he has a strong personal bond with Aaron and vice-versa, however Aaron's constant indiscipline regarding training and other issues in his personal life that affects his responsibilities to the club have caused some unrest amongst the players which cannot be allowed to continue.

Thommo has given Aaron a lot of help and guidance over the last couple of years, inordinately so perhaps, but believes that Aaron is a great player with a special talent but ultimately he has to put the good of the club above all other considerations and recently Aaron has let it be known that he isn't 100% happy at Lodge Rd.

I asked Thommo if he had any other 'irons in the fire' and he basically said no, not at this stage, so we'll go on with Deano, Whitts and Jake for the next few matches.

Personally I'd be gutted if Aaron left as he is a likeable guy and can produce some great football and score some great goals but I can fully support Thommo in his decision on this and am glad to see him and Lee taking decisive action to bring about a change in fortune.

I think with our recent form the way it has been Thommo will be expecting a couple of other players to take a good long look in the mirror and to be asking themselves some searching questions about their role at the club. I've no doubt there may be a few more hard decisions to make in the coming weeks.

Thanks for that info.
I agree it would be a shame if he left and I feel that his goals last season certainly pushed us up the table.
This season he has not been the same player and he is nowhere near as effective out on the left. If he is causing some unrest and doesn't really want to play for us it's probably the best thing if he moves on.
We are in for a battle between now and April if we are going to stay up and we need players who want to be involved in that battle.

Not sure how Whitts has been doing for you (his name doesn't come up often on the SL site) but he has bags of talent and if that can be unlocked then Blkaemore won't be missed..

I think Whitts hs been doing fine. He works hard every time he plays and gives 100%.
He's scored a few, made a few, always contributes.

Hopefully we'll see more of him and he'll get the chance to prove what he's capable of.

I've been a fan of Whitts ever since he demolished us when playing for you a few seasons ago whilst on loan from the professional team in Gloucestershire . If he hadn't gone off injured at half-time ( in that 50-50 with Courty) I reckon he might've got double figures.
