The Annual General Meeting of the Supporters Club will be held in the clubhouse on Thursday 24th September at 7.30pm. We would urge all supporters to attend this meeting if possible, as the future of the Supporters Club is at stake.
After a very successful first year, last season mirrored events on the field, and the Supporters Club fell below the standards set in the previous season, both in terms of our activities and our achievements. We are in urgent need of people to step forward and help us, particularly as some of the current committee will be resigning at the AGM. This means that if we cannot recruit new committee members then there is a real risk of the Supporters Club ceasing to exist.
As a reminder, the aims of the Supporters Club are as follows:
1. To generate income to create contingency support to the playing budget and for capital development of YTFC
2. To raise awareness of YTFC and thus increase attendances.
3. To facilitate two way information flow between the YTFC and its supporters.
We have had varying levels of success in achieving these aims. We have raised around £3,000, and have used this to fund loan signings as well as lending money to the club to help ease their cash flow problems. We have also placed posters and banners around the town, and delivered leaflets to local residents, yet sadly our attendances continue to decline.
If we are to build on the successes and help the Football Club to progress, then we need new blood on the committee, to bring fresh ideas and extra pairs of hands to help. It would be great to see a few new faces at the AGM on 24th September, and would reaffirm that Yate Town supporters want a thriving Supporters Club and are willing to help. If, however, the meeting is attended by only the usual suspects, then the message from the fans will be clear.
