I think the reason was that Moggy kept faith with the side that beat Bishops Cleeve last week.

In hindsight that was a mistake. We needed them on from the start as we might've spent a bit more time in their half in the first 45mins. Zane and Sam made an instant impact once they were on and we should have got back in the game when Sam won the penalty.
Reynolds penalty effort was abysmal. He hit it to the right of the keeper, when he should have put it to the keeper's left . His effort was too weak and not in the corner but about 2 yds off centre. Worst penalty I've seen for a while.

Although the result was disapointing, I felt we were playing a better, more organised and more physical side and can't really complain. Marc Hughes was ineffective and totally out of his depth and our defence couldn't cope with the pace and close control of their no's 11 and 10......who looked a class above everyone on the pitch.

In fairness, we had a better 2nd half and maybe could have got the draw.

Sam's injury is a blow as he could be out for at least 5 weeks and I wish him well hope he has a speedy recovery.

There are a number of players who are clearly struggling to cope with this level of football. To be competitive this year we really need to strengthen in all departments. If the supporters can see which players are just not up to it how come the management don't realise the same thing? It's all well and good sticking with a young team but they've been together for two months now and the problems are clear to see.

The defence just don't react quickly enough to situations. For the first and second Gosport goals it should have been Yate defenders getting it clear, not their attackers stabbing it in. I would like to see Ed Vaheed playing in the centre of defence and an experienced midfield player or two coming into the side.

When I watch the ball being played forward I can't work out what the plan is. Playing the ball into the channels is fine if the midfield are breaking into the penalty box to collect crosses but this isn't happening. There were far too many times when forwards were caught offside or gave away needlessfree kicks or shot tamely from way outside the penalty area. Why do we persist in playing high balls to forwards who are consistently out jumped? When we played the ball to feet the Gosport defence didn't cope with it very well but then we stopped doing it.

Perhaps we have been spoilt by Dave Elsey and his free kicks/ corners but our attempts yesterday, with the exception of the late consolation goal were awful. The players don't seem to know where the ball is going and even if they do the ball is overhit or ends up behind the players in the box.

On a personal note I'm getting fed up with watching this level of football each week and am starting to wonder if there are other ways of spending my Saturday afternoons!
